Operating Rules of the AV Equipment Rental

The Department of Media Studies and Journalism, Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University

Rental of Specialized Equipment (hereinafter referred to as "items") at the rental facility established at the Department of Media Studies and Journalism (hereinafter referred to as the "Department") of the Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University, is governed by the following provisions of the rental operating rules (hereinafter referred to as the "Operating Rules").

I. Rental users

1) The rental services are available for

a) students of selected courses provided by the Department (for that, agreement from the respective course's instructors is required),

b) students working on their thesis (for that, agreement from the supervisor is required), and

c) other Masaryk University students who have obtained permission from an authorised person to use the rental; authorised persons to grant permission for the use of the rental are the head of the Department and the deputy head of the Department. The Consent for the Use of AV Equipment rental form is attached as Operating Rules Annex No. 2.

2) Rental users must complete registration using the form attached as Operating Rules Annex No. 1. By registering, users confirm that they have read and understood the Operating Rules.

3) User registration remains valid as long as the conditions specified in Article I, Section 1 of these Operating Rules are met, or until the conditions of the Operating Rules are changed or amended.

4) In case of serious or repeated breaches of the Operating Rules, user registration may be revoked.

II. Rental Services and Related Rights and Obligations

1) Rental of items is free of charge.

2) Items are in a usable condition.

3) Rental users are not authorised to lend items to third parties.

4) Rental users are particularly obliged to:

a) protect items from damage or loss,

b) use items for non-commercial purposes only,

c) return items in the same condition as they were borrowed,

d) borrow and return items in person; they must present their student ID when borrowing items,

e) immediately report the loss of their student ID to the email address jakub.doubek@mail.muni.cz; otherwise, they are fully responsible for any misuse.

5) Users of the rental confirm the loan of items by:

a) recording it in the loan card, or

b) in a written loan agreement.

6) By recording in the loan card or signing the loan agreement, rental users confirm that they have checked the condition of the items and are taking them in a usable condition.

7) The return of borrowed items is confirmed by recording it in the loan card or a written loan agreement. Upon request, a receipt for the returned item will be issued to the rental user.

8) Failure to settle obligations related to previously borrowed items will result in a suspension of further rentals.

III. Rental period

1) The rental period is a maximum of 7 days

2) The rental period may only be extended if:

a) the rental user requests an extension, and

b) the particular item is not requested by another rental user.

3) In the case of borrowing equipment for the purpose of completing thesis projects or for internship needs, the rental period may be longer than 7 days without the need for the user to request an extension. However, such rentals require a signed consent from the thesis supervisor or the departmental internship coordinator, specifying the date by which the item must be returned. The Consent for the Long-Term loan form is attached as Operating Rules Annex No. 3. Article III, Section 4 remains in effect.

4) If being notified that the rented items are urgently needed for another activity at the Department, rental users must return the items even before the end of the rental period. In such cases, the items must be returned no later than the working day following the notification.

IV. User Liability; Compensation for Damage

1) Rental users are obligated to return the borrowed items on time. In case of a delay in returning the items within the rental period specified in Article III, Section 1 of the Operating Rules or as per Article III, Section 4 of the Operating Rules, the rental user must pay a contractual penalty of CZK 50 for each unreturned item and for each working day of delay. The enforcement of the right to a contractual penalty does not affect the right to seek compensation for damages caused by a breach of the user's obligations, secured by a contractual penalty.

2) Rental users are obliged to report the loss or damage of items immediately to the email address jakub.doubek@mail.muni.cz or any other contact provided when borrowing the items.

3) In the case of loss or damage to items, rental users agree to compensate for the resulting damage. The method of compensation for damage is decided by the head of the Department.

V. Final Provisions

1) Rights and obligations related to item rentals not explicitly regulated or excluded by the Operating Rules are governed in particular by the relevant provisions of Act No. 89/2012 Coll., the Civil Code, as amended, and other applicable legal regulations.

2) Comments, complaints, and suggestions regarding rental services can be submitted to the head of the Department.

3) Integral parts of the Operating Rules are the following annexes:

a) Annex No. 1: Rental User Registration

b) Annex No. 2: Consent for the Use of AV Equipment rental

c) Annex No. 3: Consent for Long-Term Loan

 

These Operating Rules of the AV Equipment Rental shall come into effect on September 1, 2023.
